Finale, as the title suggests, was meant to be the last two-CD set I would produce of the best songs I had recorded in the past three years. However, after reviews of friends and perhaps of those less- inclined to automatically praise my offerings, I started making a list of another fifteen or more songs I wanted to record. The more I listened to Finale the more I believed the time had not yet arrived for "the fat lady to sing". Having reached my eighties, I was still rather surprised about how much my voice had retained its timbre, range and lyric expression. I was particularly happy about the rendition of such love ballads as Jean, Send In The Clowns, Smile, Another Autumn, You'll See and Unforgettable.

I fully expect my friends to continue teasing me about every trip to my Dallas recording studio being my last. The fact is there is such joy in making music with old friends [my rhythm section quartette and my conductor- arranger, Don Zimmers, all of whom have been with me throughout my recording career] that it would be unconscionable not to continue. So, expect another CD on your doorstep next May or June - health willing; and that one will likely allude to "a fat lady singing. Happy listening.
